Finished It Up Friday {#1}

Welcome to Finished it Up Friday!

I'll get us started by sharing my Finished it Up Friday with you all.

I started this mini design wall a week ago but then ran out of upholstery nails.  I still used it but it was tricky because the back panel of felt kept flapping in the breaze everytime I'd pull it out. Finally got to Home Depot and picked up some more nails.

Here's how it turned out:

I used both hot glue and upholstery nails to keep the sides down. Since it gets moved around a lot (and played with by the kiddos) I wanted to make sure it was secure and could withstand wear and tear.

I used white felt for the front but decided to do the back in black felt.  Since I use white as a base color for a lot of my quilts, it was nice to have a black side to lay blocks out on as it provided a contrast and I can really see the block itself.  If I want to see how it will blend into the background, I just flip it over and use the white side.

Carver has discovered it also doubles nicely for a felt board.
