Coming together

I took advantage of my unmade bed the other day to lay out my finished blocks for this scrap quilt I've been working on.  I'm all about scrap quilts these days.

I love how its coming together.  The question now is how big do I want this one to be????

Finished It Up Friday {7}

Good Morning!

Finally a Finished Up Friday I can participate in myself!

This week I finished up an order for my Etsy shop.  I love these little snugglers.  The fabric is so darn soft and its fun to have a good excuse to pull out my embroidery machine.

I love to see all the things people are finishing up each week.  I had to feature this linkup from Sew Much 2 Luv last week that made me laugh right out loud.  I loved this Spoct-opus!  Hilarious and so creative.

Well done everyone!

WIP Wednesday: The Full Status Report

I pulled out my WIP box and thought it might be good to go through all the projects and refresh my brain.  It was a nice thing to do because it sort of reminded me of a lot of projects that I really like that I might want to pick up again...

 Nuts and Bolts
4 Blocks Done

LOTS more to go

The Hexie
Lots of progress being made!
Lots more to go.....

These were left over HSTs I had from my dancing diamonds quilt and its about the size of a small snuggle quilt.  I'm thinking I might try to find some minky to put on the back and make it a baby snuggler.  We'll see.  Or it might just be a pretty mini quilt for my wall.

Star Sisters
I found these 9 squares that I made out of the leftovers of this...

I'm not sure how I want to sew them together.  block to block or does it need some sashing?  I still don't quite have the inspiration to finish that guy.
Although every time I see the blocks I get a little thrill that they are made completely out of pieces that would have been thrown away.

Postcards From Granny
I laid out the blocks for this one and felt like it wasn't quite right and so its taken a backseat.  I think I need some more variety in my blocks.

Yellow Pinwheels
I found this guy wrapped up too and I think I might be looking around for some more yellows to get this guy back in motion.  Yellow is my Carver's favorite color after all.

Baby Snugglie

I had an order for a little baby snugglie the other day through my etsy shop.  It happened to be from an old friend from high school which was a fun surprise!

She wanted an "Oh Henry" Snuggle Quilt which I probably should call a bunting snugglie or a flag snugglie but since the original was for baby Henry, it seems to have stuck.

The embroidery was a little tricky with this minkey fabric, even with a top covering dissolving stabler.  I think next time I will choose a tighter stitch.  But it still turned out fine I think.

And I FINALLY got myself together and made some labels.  I just got some printable fabric at Joanns and made a page of them on PhotoShop and then printed it.

Easy peasy.

And now off to Miss Molly to pass on to baby Jordan as soon as he arrives!

Finished It Up Friday {#6}

We had some wonderful link ups for Finished It Up Friday last week!

Beautiful work!

I LOVED these little pouches. So cute.  I need to make some of these to keep my tissues in.

In the meantime, I'm off to sunny Palm Springs for a weekend of fun with my five best girls.  We six were roommates in college and have remained sisterfriends ever since.  We've been planning this roommate reunion for about two years.

I can hardly wait!

WIP Wednesday: Some Color

I've been it a bit of a slow sewing phase.  I would call it a rut but rut implies something bad and really, I haven't been sewing because I've been reading more, playing more with my kids and paying a little more attention to things like laundry and dishes in the sink (wink).  Balance is hard for me sometimes as when I find something I want to do I just want to do it all the time.  I think that's why I read the same books over and over again because then I know what happens so I can put them down and not stay up all night because I have to know what happens.

But lately some little ideas have been perkalating and now I'm dabbling in my projects again.

This little pile of fun is my current baby.  I keep an old baby formula can on my table and periodically cut 3"
squares and when it gets full I start playing like with my lily squares and nuts and bolts squares.

 These squares are quick and easy and utilize only 3" squares (or half or quarters of 3" squares) which makes it a fun way to work through my 3" scrap bucket.  I'm shooting for a full quilt of about 65 x 70 or so.

My Netflix cue brought me the Christie disks (does anyone else remember that miniseries?) and I've been watching it at night while working on the hexies.  I love that this is a project that I can just keep coming back to over and over.  Pick up, put down, since the little guys are so small I really have no expectation of finishing it anytime soon.  It can just be a process.

And this little pile of cuteness is for a baby snugglie ordered by an old friend through my shop on etsy.  I'm excited to make another snugglie and really love these fabrics together.

One of these days...

I'll finish a project.

I even stopped by SueDee's Quilting and Knitting Shop to pick up the white I need to finish my single girl.  REALLY aiming to finish that up by Friday.  There wasn't any so this time I said okay, special order it.  Let's just get this done. Right?

In the meantime, I started this new project with scraps and I'm really liking it.

More to come on this...

Bloggers Quilt Festival: Spring 2011 {The Color Wheel Quilt}

Amy at Amy's Creative Side is hosting a Blogger's Quilt Festival and you really ought to head over there and see all the beauty on display.

I decided to show off (again) my Color Wheel Quilt.

I love this quilt because it was the first quilt I really tried that when I started it, I wasn't sure I would know how to finish it.

I'm not all that skilled at following patterns and those curves freaked me out.

But I pushed through all that and did it.  And it really gave me confidence to push myself and try things I didn't think I could do.

It hangs in our playroom where we spend most of our days.

I love this quilt.

Check all the other beautiful quilts here.

Finished It Up Friday {#5}

Good morning!  With blogger down I wasn't sure if we were going to be doing a Finished It Up Friday today but just as we were heading out to the park, lo and behold, its up.

So while the chickens play in their room I'll post that I have yet again, not finished anything this week but I have started a NEW project which makes sense because I don't have enough already unfinished projects to work on. right?

Anyhoos, Thanks for those who linked up last week.  Its so fun to see what people are finishing up!

Here a little look at what we had last week!

A little something for the babe

A while back I made a bunch of numbered onsies to take Asher's picture in each month.  For the last two weeks I've been going crazy because I couldn't find the 10 month onsie and Asher's 10th month was quickly passing us by.

Then I was going through a drawer in the crafting abyss over here and found the little baggie of my numbers 10-18 months that I never finished.  Makes sense now why I couldn't find it.  I never made it.

So I quickly grabbed one of the 372 white onsies on Asher's changing table and sewed the 10 on lickity split.

Then we had the photo shoot.
Can anyone believe this kid is already 10 (and a 3/4) months old now??  He's such a little joy and I love that he's getting his toddler personality now.  It just gets more fun!

Oh and one more shout out to our friend
LINDA CROSBY
who was our winner for the Marimekko fabric.
I haven't heard from you and I'd love to get your prize to you.
If we can't connect I think we'll pick another name to make sure someone gets to enjoy this delicious fabric.
A good time to make sure everyone's profile has their email on it.  No-reply bloggers make it tricky to deliver prizes.

Finished It Up Friday {#4}

Good Morning!

I must confess that I have nothing  crafty or quilty finished myself this week.
Its been Potty Training Boot Camp here in
Casa de Taff and that's really left no time (or energy) to do much else.

I wish the potty training could be Finished up for Friday but alas, it would appear that my guy isn't one of those potty train in one day kind of kids.

But with a face this cute who could be frustrated
(me, about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon but whatever....Its going better....)

Anyhoos...

Time for a little show off of the lovely projects shared last week!

Now what to do with them...........

Thanks to all who entered my giveaway!  I can't wait to see what our winner makes with it.  Stay tuned, I'll post tomorrow morning after it officially closes:)
